NKU SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER FROM USI

Norse use 11-run inning in second game to defeat USI

 

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Sophomore designated hitter Jason Martin collected three hits and two runs batted in during the second game Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep of the University of Southern Indiana with a 13-6 victory at Friendship Field.

NKU used an 11-run sixth inning to defeat USI and improve to 26-23 overall, 8-14 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse also won the first game, 7-3, as junior right fielder Brandon Smith had three hits and four RBI. Martin also hit a pair of doubles to spark the NKU offense in the opener.

NKU will play host to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville at noon on Sunday.
