Akers bid for 800th career win denied as Norse lose seventh straight game
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Junior outfielder Ryan Sorrels collected three hits Wednesday as the University of Indianapolis baseball team defeated Northern Kentucky University, 7-4.
Indianapolis (27-15, 12-5 Great Lakes Valley Conference) pounded out 12 hits to hand NKU its seventh consecutive defeat. The loss also prevented NKU head coach Bill Aker from recording his 800th career win with the Norse. Aker owns a career record of 799-565-1 in 29 years at NKU.
Sorrels had a double and a triple to spark the Indianapolis offense, and he also scored two runs. Sophomore center fielder Justin Rahschulte led NKUs offensive attack with a double and two RBI.
The Norse (20-21, 4-12 GLVC) will play a three-game series at Saint Josephs College this weekend, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday. NKU will also play Saint Josephs in a single game on Sunday at noon, and then play Lewis University at 4 p.m. on Sunday in a makeup game at Rensselaer, Ind.
