UM-ST. LOUIS SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER FROM NKU

NKU’s Aker denied 800th career victory again Saturday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team swept a doubleheader from Northern Kentucky University on Saturday afternoon by scores of 3-0 and 5-3 at Friendship Field.

NKU head coach Bill Aker needed just one win on Saturday to pick up his 800th career victory with the Norse, but Missouri-St. Louis used solid pitching and timely hitting to sweep the doubleheader. The Rivermen improved to 23-5-1 overall, 12-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

In the first game, Missouri-St. Louis right-hander Bob Kavran tossed a four-hit shutout against NKU. The Rivermen took the second game as Bob Stehman homered and Scott Luczak added two RBI.

NKU (20-18, 4-9 GLVC) will play host to Quincy University in a doubleheader at noon Sunday.
