NKU WINS ALL-SPORTS TROPHY

NKU “three-peats” as GLVC All-Sports Trophy winner

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - For the third straight year, Northern Kentucky University has won the Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Sports Trophy.

NKU won conference championships in men’s golf, women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s tennis, women’s basketball and baseball during the 2001-02 academic year en route to earning its third straight GLVC All-Sports Trophy. NKU finished with 113 total points, while runner-up University of Indianapolis had 104.75 total points.

The calculation for All-Sports Trophy points is based on each institution’s finish in each conference championship in which it participates.

NKU joins Lewis University as the only school to win the GLVC All-Sports Trophy three consecutive years. Lewis won the award seven straight years from 1983-1990.

During the past academic year, NKU featured five GLVC Coach of the Year winners (Kathy Bown, Carlos Chia, Daryl Landrum, Bob Sheehan and Todd Asalon), five GLVC Player of the Year honorees (Michelle Cottrell, Betsy Moore, Jamie O’Hara, Bethany Gastright and Amine Benjelloun) and one GLVC Pitcher of the Year in baseball standout Lenny Bays.
