- Northern Kentucky University’s Kelsey Wesaw has been named
the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in volleyball,
the league office announced Monday.
Wesaw, a 6-foot-3
senior right-side hitter, led NKU to three consecutive wins last
week by recording 36 kills and attacking at a .464 clip. She sparked
NKU's five-set victory against Lewis on Saturday with 20 kills.
Wesaw also hit .405 in that match.
evening, Wesaw collected 10 kills and attacked at a .667 clip as
the Norse swept past visiting Wisconsin-Parkside on Senior Night
in Regents Hall.
For the season,
Wesaw is hitting .348 and is second on the team with 390 kills.
The Lansing, Mich., native is also third on the team in total blocks
with 65. This is the second time Wesaw has earned the GLVC honor
NKU is 27-6
overall and is the No. 2 seed from the GLVC East Division in the
upcoming GLVC Tournament. The 24th-ranked Norse, who tied Lewis
for a share of the GLVC East Division title with the victory on
Saturday, meet Southern Indiana in the opening match of the GLVC
Tournament at noon (Central time) on Friday at Romeoville, Ill.
is 16-14 overall and posted a 9-8 GLVC mark. The Screaming Eagles
are the No. 3 seed from the GLVC West Division.

Indiana. Natalie Forbes dished out 50 assists and collected 10 digs
as the Norse defeated Southern Indiana for the fourth consecutive
NKU leads the
all-time series with Southern Indiana, 33-9. The Norse have not
lost to the Screaming Eagles since 2004.
Indiana winner will take on either Missouri-St. Louis or Bellarmine
in the GLVC Tournament semifinals Saturday at 5 p.m.
