ASHLAND, Ohio - Northern Kentucky University attacked at a .473 clip against Kentucky Wesleyan and opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play Saturday with a 30-12, 30-15, 30-15 victory.

Liz Holmes and Tristen Dye combined for 23 kills, nine service aces and a .606 hitting percentage against Kentucky Wesleyan. Holmes finished with 11 kills, five aces and attacked at a .769 clip, while Dye added 12 kills, four aces, 14 digs and a .500 hitting percentage.

As a team, NKU totaled 52 kills in 93 attempts with only eight errors. The 24th-ranked Norse also served up 14 aces and improved to 35-0 in the all-time series against Kentucky Wesleyan.

Kristina Eisenmenger finished with eight kills and a .538 hitting percentage for NKU. Natalie Forbes dished out 42 assists and added five digs. Chelsea Clark and Katie Latenser each served up two aces for the Norse.

NKU's three freshmen middles - Morgan Elyea, Annie Lucas and Samantha Williams - combined for 11 kills and a .555 hitting percentage. Elyea converted five kills in nine attempts, while Lucas notched four kills in six attacks. Williams added a pair of kills and a .667 hitting percentage.

NKU closed out the Ashland Invitational by sweeping by Wheeling Jesuit, 30-23, 30-25, 30-28. The Norse improved to 12-2 overall with the victory.

Holmes led NKU with 15 kills and hit .500 for the match. Dye - who recorded two consecutive kills with the third game tied at 28-all to give NKU the sweep - slammed down 12 kills. Eisenmenger collected 13 kills and four blocks, while Forbes finished with 45 assists.

NKU will play host to Bellarmine at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Regents Hall.
