---NKU’s Liz Holmes enters Tuesday night’s match with Lincoln Memorial with 1,428 career kills, which ranks seventh all-time in Norse history. Holmes hit .538 last week as NKU posted a 4-1 record.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University is ranked 24th nationally in the latest NCAA Division II volleyball rankings, which were released Monday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

NKU is 8-1 overall and opened the season by knocking off nationally ranked North Alabama and Ashland. The Norse will play host to Lincoln Memorial (6-1) Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Regents Hall. That match can also be heard live on the Internet at www.nkunorse.com.

NKU will meet two nationally ranked opponents on Friday in No. 7 Hillsdale (Mich.) and No. 13 Grand Valley State. Those matches will take place at Ashland, Ohio.

On Saturday, NKU opens Great Lakes Valley Conference action with a neutral-court match against Kentucky Wesleyan in Ashland, Ohio. The Norse will also play Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday to conclude the two-day event.

HOLMES MOVES UP CAREER LIST: NKU senior middle hitter Liz Holmes enters Tuesday night with 1,428 career kills, which ranks seventh all-time in Norse history. Holmes, a graduate of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, hit .538 and averaged 4.8 kills per game last week in five matches.

Holmes converted 82 kills with just 11 errors in 132 attempts, and she averaged 16.4 kills and 9.9 digs per match. She had 28 kills and attacked at a .568 clip against California (Pa.), and she later hit .750 (13 kills in 16 attempts with only one error) against West Liberty State.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST LMU: On Sept. 1, 2005, at Harrogate, Tenn., Liz Holmes recorded 15 kills, nine digs and a .700 hitting percentage as NKU knocked off previously unbeaten Lincoln Memorial, 30-27, 30-21, 31-29, in Mars Gym. Holmes converted the 15 kills in 20 attempts with just one error. She also added a service ace and a block. Setter Andrea Lanham finished with 34 assists, five kills and four service aces for NKU, which is 2-0 all-time against Lincoln Memorial.
