CALIFORNIA, Pa. - Northern Kentucky University rolled to a pair of victories to conclude the California (Pa.) Tournament on Saturday, sweeping both West Liberty State and Slippery Rock.

The Norse began Saturday with a 30-6, 30-9, 30-17 win over West Liberty State. NKU finished the day with a 30-16, 30-26, 30-20 victory over Slippery Rock to improve to 8-1.

Liz Holmes collected 13 kills, four service aces and attacked at a .750 clip against West Liberty State to lead the NKU attack. Tristen Dye added 13 kills and hit .600, while teammate Kristina Eisenmenger finished with seven kills and a .875 hitting percentage.

Eisenmenger paced NKU with 15 kills and a .387 hitting percentage against Slippery Rock. Holmes added 12kills and three aces, and Dye finished with 11 kills. Junior setter Natalie Forbes directed the offense and finished with 41 assists. Forbes also had 12 digs and five kills.

NKU plays host to Lincoln Memorial at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Regents Hall. That match can also be heard live on the Internet at www.nkunorse.com.

The Norse then travel to Ashland, Ohio, to meet regional foes Hillsdale and Grand Valley State on Friday. NKU plays Hillsdale at 2 p.m., and the Norse meet Grand Valley State at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, NKU opens Great Lakes Valley Conference action with a neutral-court match against Kentucky Wesleyan in Ashland, Ohio. The Norse will also play Wheeling Jesuit next Saturday to conclude the two-day event.
