INDIANAPOLIS - Northern Kentucky University’s Tristen Dye has been selected as the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Dye, a senior outside hitter from Millersburg, Ohio, averaged 3.8 kills and 3.2 digs per game to lead the Norse to a 4-0 record at the North Alabama Classic last weekend. NKU also picked up a pair of wins over teams ranked in the top 10 of the NCAA Division II national poll during that tournament.

Dye, who averaged a double-double, began the tournament by posting 12 kills, 11 digs and seven service aces during a four-game win against North Dakota. She followed that with 11 kills, 17 digs and two aces as the Norse upset No. 9 North Alabama in five games.

Dye hammered down 18 kills and hit .484 during a sweep of Tusculum on Saturday, and she capped the weekend with 16 kills and 12 digs as NKU knocked off No. 8 Ashland in three games. For the week, Dye averaged 14.3 kills (3.80 per game) and 12 digs (3.20 per game) in four matches.

Dye now has 970 career kills at NKU and is looking to become just the 12th player in Norse history to join the 1,000-kills club.

NKU begins its home season Tuesday night when Indiana Tech visits Regents Hall for a 7 p.m. match. That match can also be heard live on the Internet at www.nkunorse.com.
