25-21 lead in the second game and appeared to be on the verge of
taking the set after Liz Holmes converted a kill to give the Norse
a 28-25 advantage. Indianapolis rallied, however, and scored the
final five points to win the second game.
On the final
point, Ross blocked an attack by Holmes to give the Greyhounds a
30-28 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third
game, Indianapolis hit .379 and coasted to the victory. Casey Chrzastowski
led the Greyhounds with 11 kills, and Ross added five blocks.
led NKU with 14 kills, and Tristen Dye finished with 10 kills. Holmes
added eight kills, but the junior middle hitter was held to a .167
hitting percentage. Holmes now has 985 career kills at NKU.
Andrea Lanham dished out 29 assists and served up two aces. Lindsay
Zumdick added two service aces and six digs for NKU, which leads
the all-time series with Indianapolis, 34-5.
NKU will play
its home opener next Thursday night when NAIA power Georgetown (Ky.)
visits Regents Hall for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
