ASHLAND, Ohio
- Freshman outside hitter Andrea Price recorded 10 kills and a .714
hitting percentage to lead Northern Kentucky University to a 30-20,
30-27, 30-22 win over Palm Beach (Fla.) Atlantic at the Ashland
Tournament on Friday night.
Price, a graduate
of St. Henry High School, also added four service aces as NKU improved
to 3-4. Sophomore right-side hitter Kristina Eisenmenger (Notre
Dame) finished with 11 kills and a .625 hitting percentage, while
senior setter Andrea Lanham (Notre Dame) had 31 assists and two
service aces.
The Norse attacked
at a .588 clip in the opening game against Palm Beach Atlantic (2-2)
and rolled to the victory. NKU finished with a .471 hitting percentage
and held a 35-18 edge in digs.
NKU also posted
a 30-25, 30-28, 30-18 win over Wheeling Jesuit earlier Friday as
Eisenmenger finished with 16 kills and a .538 hitting percentage.
Tristen Dye added 10 kills, and Lanham collected 40 assists, seven
kills and six digs.
Liz Holmes notched
eight kills, 13 digs and hit .571 for the Norse, who attacked at
a .353 clip for the match. Holmes, a junior middle hitter from Mercy
High School in Cincinnati, now has 937 career kills at NKU.
Elizabeth Droessler
added six kills, five blocks and hit .600 as the Norse coasted past
Wheeling Jesuit (1-4).
The Norse meet
defending NCAA Division II national champion Grand Valley State
at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Lakers, who won twice Friday, are ranked
No. 1 nationally in the NCAA Division II preseason poll.
NKU will conclude
the tournament with a match against No. 9 North Alabama at 1 p.m.
Saturday.
