HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University's Liz Holmes has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in volleyball for the second time this season.

Holmes led NKU to a pair of victories over the weekend by hitting .567 and averaging a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs per match. Holmes began by hammering down 19 kills in 23 attempts with no errors for a .826 hitting percentage against Ouachita Baptist. She also had three aces and 11 digs in that victory.

Holmes capped her week with 15 kills, nine digs, four blocks and a .367 hitting percentage during a road victory at Christian Brothers. She also served up three more aces in that victory as NKU (15-10) extended its winning streak to three.

Holmes, a graduate of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, now has 1,167 career kills. She needs 17 kills to move into eighth place on the Norse's all-time career list in that category.

Holmes also earned the GLVC weekly honor earlier this season on Sept. 18.

NKU will play host to Bellarmine at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Regents Hall. The Norse will also play GLVC road matches at Lewis (Friday) and Wisconsin-Parkside (Saturday) this weekend.
