HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -
Two Northern Kentucky University standouts have
been selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete
of the Year in their respective sports.
NKU men’s golfer
Mark Krahe and Norse softball standout Ricki Rothbauer each were
named Scholar-Athlete of the Year for spring sports. Krahe, a senior
and a native of Edgewood, Ky., finished in fourth place at the NCAA
Division II Great Lakes Super Regional this spring. He shot 72 during
the final round and ended with a three-day total of 217.
At the GLVC Championships,
Krahe totaled 219 and tied for fifth place. Krahe was named Golf
Coaches Association Scholar All-America, GLVC All-Academic. He was
also named to the NKU Dean’s List and compiled a 73.29 stroke
average this season.
Rothbauer, a senior
second baseman and a native of Louisville, was selected third team
All-American. She batted .379 with a team-leading 80 hits this season.
Rothbauer also collected
10 doubles and scored a team-leading 46 runs this season. A graduate
of DuPont Manual High School, Rothbauer finished No. 3 in Norse
history with 234 career hits.
A year ago, Rothbauer
was named a first team All-America selection by the NFCA as NKU
set a collegiate softball record by winning 55 consecutive games.
Rothbauer graduated
Summa Cum Laude, was a finalist for the NCAA postgraduate scholarship
and was named to the NKU Honors List.
