HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - After opening the season with 13 consecutive matches on the
road, the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will play
its home opener at 7 p.m. Friday against Indianapolis in Regents
Hall.
NKU will also
meet Saint Joseph’s at 1 p.m. Saturday in Regents Hall. NKU
owns an 11-2 overall record heading into its Great Lakes Valley
Conference schedule.
The Norse posted
a 4-0 record at the Charleston (W. Va.) Tournament last weekend
and own five consecutive victories heading into Friday’s match.
Indianapolis owns a 6-6 overall record. A year ago, NKU swept the
season series from the Greyhounds.
Sophomore middle
hitter Liz Holmes leads NKU in kills (212), kills per game (4.51
kpg), service aces (32), digs (140) and blocks (38). Holmes collected
four double-doubles last weekend at the Charleston Tournament.
Holmes, a graduate
of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, enters Friday with 609 career
kills.
Andrea Lanham
finished with 55 assists, 13 digs and six service aces as NKU posted
a 30-28, 25-30, 30-28, 30-11 win over Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday.
Lanham, a junior setter and a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, also
had four kills.
Kristina Eisenmenger,
who was named most valuable player of the Charleston Tournament,
added 15 kills and five blocks for NKU. Eisenmenger, a freshman
and a graduate of Notre Dame, leads NKU in hitting percentage (.359)
and is second on the team in blocks with 30.
Sophomore Brittany
Dixon served up four aces and added 12 digs for the Norse in the
victory over Indiana (Pa.).
