set to attack against Lewis |
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will play
a non-conference road match at Wheeling Jesuit at 7 p.m. Thursday.
NKU is 16-4
overall after rallying to defeat Lewis in five games last Saturday
in a key Great Lakes Valley Conference match. The Norse are 5-2
in the GLVC.
Wheeling Jesuit
owns a 10-13 overall record. Wheeling Jesuit is a member of the
West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Freshman right-side
hitter Kristina Eisenmenger recorded 21 kills last Saturday as NKU
handed Lewis its first loss in GLVC play. Eisenmenger also had seven
blocks and hit .280 for the match. Tristen Dye collected 18 kills
for NKU, while teammate Liz Holmes added 15 kills and 22 digs.
Holmes leads
the GLVC in hitting percentage (.347) and kills (4.20 kpg), and
the sophomore middle hitter ranks second in service aces (0.55 sapg).
Eisenmenger ranks second in hitting percentage (.337).
Junior setter
Andrea Lanham dished out 71 assists in the win over Lewis. She also
added 22 digs and five kills. Lanham enters Thursday with 2,918
career assists, which ranks fifth in NKU history. She is third in
the GLVC in assists at 12.08 apg.
NKU senior
Lynne Fischesser leads the GLVC in service aces at 0.57 sapg. The
Norse continue to lead the GLVC in aces at 2.78 sapg.
The Norse will
resume GLVC play Oct. 14 with a match against defending league champion
Southern Indiana at Evansville, Ind. NKU will also meet preseason
GLVC favorite Southern Illinois at Edwardsville on Oct. 15 at Edwardsville,
Ill.
