KISSIMMEE,
Fla. - The Northern Kentucky University softball team took another
blow Monday, dropping a pair in Day 3 action at the Rebel Spring
Games, falling to Lock Haven and Saint Xavier (Ill.).
The Norse
fell to No. 4 Lock Haven, 2-0, in nine innings. The Bald Eagles
got the winning run in the top of the ninth on a Sarah Norris
RBI-double. Norris would later score on a sacrifice fly to get
the final result.
Lock Haven's
Kristen Erb was stellar in the circle, striking out 14 batters,
including six in the game's final three innings.
April Ehlers
(1-5) struck out 11 batters of her own in the complete game
while allowing just one earned run.
Saint Xavier
took advantage of a six-run fourth inning to take
a 9-4 victory in Game 2. All nine players in the Cougars'
lineup recorded at least one hit, with Megan Paradzinski going
4-for-5 to lead the charge. Stephanie West extended her team-best
hitting streak to five games with a 4-for-4 performance.
Chelsie
Roy (0-3) took the loss, giving up six runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Karen Simmons struck out three batters in relief.
The Norse now
have a day off from game action before taking
to the field once more to face Pfeiffer and Minnesota-Duluth. NKU-LHU
