Ricki Rothbauer

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Ricki Rothbauer has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s co-Player of the Week in softball.

Rothbauer, a junior second baseman and a native of Louisville, Ky., recorded 13 multi-hit games and batted .423 in NKU’s first 20 contests to earn the honor. She recorded six doubles, three triples, and six runs batted in, while scoring 19 runs in 78 at-bats. She also was 9-for-11 in stolen base attempts.

Rothbauer went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in NKU’s 3-0 victory over Shippensburg. She has led NKU to a 20-0 start and its first-ever No. 1 national ranking.

Rothbauer shared the weekly honor with Southern Illinois at Edwardsville’s Alicia DeShaiser.

The Norse will begin GLVC play at noon Saturday with a doubleheader against Kentucky Wesleyan at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.
