Krystal Lewallen

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Krystal Lewallen has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s co-Pitcher of the Week in softball.

Lewallen, a junior from Crestwood, Ky., tossed a one-hitter against Bellarmine during a 4-0 victory last week. In that game, Lewallen struck out 17 batters and did not issue a walk

A graduate of South Oldham High School, Lewallen is now 12-0 this season and has not allowed an earned run during her last 68 innings on the mound.

For the season, Lewallen has nine shutouts and a 0.25 earned run average. She also has 132 strikeouts in 84 2/3 innings and has allowed just 19 walks.

Lewallen shared the weekly honor with Lewis’ Kasey DeLair.

Lewallen, last season’s GLVC Player of the Year, has led NKU to a 24-0 start. The Norse will play host to Indianapolis at noon Saturday at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.
