LEWALLEN, STEWART NAMED GLVC’S BEST
Lewallen named GLVC Pitcher of the Year; Stewart tabbed GLVC Coach of the Year

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Krystal Lewallen has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, the league announced Saturday.

Lewallen, a junior from Crestwood, Ky., posted a 24-0 record and an NCAA Division II-leading 0.34 earned run average during the regular season. She was one of eight NKU players selected All-GLVC.

Six Norse - Lewallen, Ricki Rothbauer, Angie Lindeman, Becky Napier, Stephanie Leimbach and Emily Breitholle - were named to the first team. NKU’s Megan Owens and Rachele Vogelpohl were voted to the second team.

In addition, NKU’s Kathy Stewart was named GLVC Coach of the Year after leading the Norse to a 46-0 record during the regular season.

Rothbauer, a junior second baseman from Louisville, Ky., batted .439 during the regular season. She entered the GLVC Tournament having tied the NKU single-season record for hits (75), triples (8) and runs scored (46).

Lindeman, a senior first baseman from North Canton, Ohio, batted .387 with 33 runs batted in during the regular season.

Napier, a sophomore shortstop from Lexington, Ky., hit .358 with 12 doubles and 34 RBI. Leimbach, a senior center fielder from Hilliard, Ohio, batted .405 during the regular season with 23 stolen bases and 43 runs scored. Breitholle, a senior pitcher from Fairfield, Ohio, was 17-0 with a 0.97 ERA.

Owens, a senior catcher from Fairfield, Ohio, batted .286 with 11 RBI. Vogelpohl, a junior left fielder from Park Hills, Ky., batted .325 in the regular season with two home runs and 14 RBI.
