ASHLAND, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky University women’s
soccer team posted a 3-0 win at Ashland in non-conference play Wednesday
night.
It took just
more than eight minutes for the Norse (7-2) to take control of
the game as
Kendall Day collected a takeaway from
the
Eagles’ (5-6) defense and netted a shot from 10 yards out
for her fourth goal of the season.
Jessica Page tacked on the insurance
goal in the 32nd minute, putting
home a loose ball from five yards out for a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Less
than 90 seconds into the second half, Lauren Franzen closed out
the scoring when she took a pass from Day and used some fancy
footwork to elude the Eagle defense and net her third marker
of the season.
Goalkeeper Angela Healy made four saves for the Norse,
allowing freshman Stephanie Glass to cover the final six minutes
of the
contest in
the team shutout. Krista Herbst also made four saves in the
losing effort for the Eagles.
NKU returns to
