RENSSELAER,
Ind. – A well-placed boot with 17 seconds remaining
in the second half gave Saint Joseph’s a 1-0 victory over
Northern Kentucky University in women’s soccer action.
After
the NKU defense was whistled for a foul deep in its own defensive
end, the Pumas’ Aniela Pulice served a free kick into the
penalty area, which was driven home by Rachel Cobean for her ninth
goal of the season.
NKU dominated
play for most of the game, outshooting Saint Joseph’s
by a 15-6 margin, including a 5-2 shots on goal differential. However,
the Norse simply could not find the net as they dropped their school-record
fourth consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference match.
Alayna Fontaine
took the loss for the Norse (9-4 overall, 5-4 GLVC) in net, making
one save.
NKU will return home for the final home
games of the regular season next weekend. The Norse play host
to Southern Indiana at 5 p.m.
Friday before entertaining Kentucky Wesleyan for Senior Day at
noon Sunday.
