QUINCY, Ill. - In less than a minute Friday night late in the second half, a scoreless battle with No. 12 Quincy turned into a three-goal loss for the Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team.

The 12th-ranked Lady Hawks scored three goals in 59 seconds to defeat NKU, 3-0, in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown. Quincy improved to 6-0 overall, 3-0 in the GLVC.
NKU is 3-2 overall, 1-2 in the GLVC.

It marked Quincy's first win against NKU since 1997, which was the Norse's first year of fielding women's soccer as a varsity program. The Lady Hawks are now 2-9-1 all-time against NKU.

Michelle Peabody scored the first Quincy goal at the 79:21 mark off a pass from Becky Fleming. Rachel Poepsel found the back of the net with a 25-yard shot 30 seconds later to make it 2-0, and, at the 80:20 mark, Jenna Boyko capped the scoring with a header off a cross from Poepsel.

Quincy finished with a 29-7 advantage in shot attempts. Amy Law and Lauren Franzen each attempted three shots for the Norse. NKU freshman goalie Jenna Kramer recorded 10 saves.

A year ago, NKU edged Quincy in overtime, 2-1, at Wilder, Ky.

NKU will meet Southern Illinois at Edwardsville at 1 p.m. Sunday in Edwardsville, Ill.
