WILDER, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University built a two-goal lead over Bellarmine in the second half Tuesday night, and the Norse held on for a 2-1 victory over the Knights at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Jayme Light gave NKU a 1-0 lead at the 58:30 mark by finding the back of the net with a 15-yard shot to the left post. It was the seventh goal of the season for Light, a junior forward and a graduate of Colerain High School.

NKU extended its advantage to 2-0 at the 68:37 mark when Ashley Warndorf netted her third goal of the season off an assist from Light.

Bellarmine scored with just 22 seconds remaining in the game when Jaime Halas put in a rebound shot. Earlier in the second half, Marisa Larkin of Bellarmine sent an indirect kick into the back of the net, but the ball had not been touched by a teammate and the goal was waived off.

NKU won its fifth straight game and improved to 8-2 overall, 6-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Bellarmine fell to 6-3 overall, 5-2 in the GLVC.

The Norse are now 8-1-1 all-time against Bellarmine, with the only setback to the Knights coming in 1997.

NKU hits the road for GLVC games at Wisconsin-Parkside (Friday) and Lewis (Sunday) this weekend.
