-----Jayme Light dribbles against UM-St. Louis

WILDER, Ky. - Ashley Warndorf scored a goal and assisted two others as Northern Kentucky University posted a 4-0 victory over Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Jeanna Goettelman and Jayme Light each scored goals and collected assists for NKU, which won its third consecutive game. The Norse jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening 4:38 of the contest and were never threatened.

Goettelman began the scoring just 3:21 into the game by knocking in a rebound shot into the back of the net. Warndorf and Amy Law each were credited with assists on the play.

Warndorf made it 2-0 at the 4:38 mark when she finished off a crossing pass for her second goal of the season. Light and Carla Schierloh assisted the goal.

NKU extended the lead to 3-0 less than three minutes into the second half when Lauren Franzen netted her second goal of the season after a scramble in the box off a corner kick. Light capped the scoring at the 56:10 by scoring on a breakaway that was assisted by Warndorf and Katie Guinn.

It was the team-leading fifth goal of the season for Light, a junior and a graduate of Colerain High School.

Kelly Bare recorded her second straight shutout and finished with five saves for the Norse, who defeated Missouri-St. Louis for the 14th consecutive time. The Riverwomen have not beaten NKU since the 1997 season, and the Norse upped their lead in the all-time series to 14-1.

NKU improved to 6-2 overall, 4-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Missouri-St. Louis is 3-5-1 overall, 0-4 in the GLVC.

NKU will return to action at 5 p.m. Friday when Ashland visits the Town & Country Sports Complex for a non-conference game.
