----Jayme Light

INDIANAPOLIS - Northern Kentucky University women's soccer standout Jayme Light has been voted to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference first team, the league office announced Thursday.

Light, a junior forward and a graduate of Colerain High School in Cincinnati, leads NKU with 13 goals. She has added six assists and tops the Norse in points scored with 32.

NKU's Cara Alldred was voted to the All-GLVC second team. Alldred, a junior forward in her first season with the Norse after transferring from the University of Cincinnati, has two goal and three assists.

Norse freshman defender Hope Zinser earned honorable mention All-GLVC accolades. A graduate of Oak Hills High School, Zinser has helped NKU's defense rank No. 5 in the GLVC in goals allowed per game at 1.05.

Quincy’s Becky Fleming and teammate Laura Gentry are the 2006 GLVC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. The pair helped guide the Lady Hawks to the GLVC regular-season title.

Fleming, also named GLVC Freshman of the Year, made an immediate impact for the Lady Hawks and posted 12 goals and three assists in conference play this season. Fleming scored a league-leading 42 points overall as she contributed 18 goals and six assists for the Lady Hawks.

Gentry, a senior back, paced a strong Quincy defense. She led a team that surrendered just 18 goals on the year and posted a goals against average of 1.00.

NKU (13-4 overall record) begins the GLVC Tournament at noon Sunday with a road game against Indianapolis. The Norse, attempting to repeat as GLVC Tournament champions, enter the postseason as the No. 5 seed.

The NKU/Indianapolis winner plays either No. 1 seed Quincy or No. 8 seed Rockhurst in the GLVC Tournament semifinals Oct. 27. The Norse have won six GLVC Tournament titles since 1998.
