HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Ashley Warndorf has been
named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s
soccer.
Warndorf, a freshman forward and a graduate of Oak Hills High School
in Cincinnati, tied a school record with four goals last Friday
night as the Norse posted a 7-1 win over Concord (W. Va.). She netted
three goals in the first half as NKU built a 4-0 lead.
Warndorf tied the school record of four goals eight minutes into
the second half with
a shot that was assisted by Jeanna Goettelman. The freshman’s
performance enabled her to tie Betsy Moore (vs. Mercyhurst in 2000)
and Tricia Ruark (vs. Wheeling Jesuit in 2001) for the NKU single-game
record for goals scored.
NKU begins GLVC action
this Friday at 5 p.m. with a home contest against Kentucky Wesleyan
at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky. The Norse
will enter that contest with a 1-1 record.
