HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University soccer teams will play host to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Lewis this Friday in a doubleheader at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.

The women’s game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. NKU will also host Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday, with the women playing at noon and the men at 2:30 p.m.

The NKU women are 5-2 after defeating Rockhurst, 1-0, in two overtimes last Sunday at Kansas City, Mo. The Norse - ranked 23rd nationally in the NCAA Division II poll - are 3-1 in the GLVC.

Lewis is 4-5-1 overall, 1-1-1 in the GLVC. NKU owns a 6-1-1 lead in the all-time series with the Flyers.

Wisconsin-Parkside, the two-time defending GLVC champion, is 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the GLVC. The Rangers will play at Bellarmine on Friday.

Alex Armstrong’s first collegiate goal gave NKU the win at Rockhurst last Sunday. The goal was assisted by Lauren Franzen.

The NKU men are 5-2 overall after dropping a 5-0 decision at Rockhurst last Sunday. The Norse are 3-1 in the GLVC.

NKU entered last weekend’s action ranked 12th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, but the Norse dropped out of this week’s poll despite a 1-1 road trip. The Norse posted a 2-0 win at Drury on Friday before losing to Rockhurst.

Lewis is 4-3 overall, 2-1 in the GLVC. A year ago, NKU knocked off Lewis, 2-0, at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Wisconsin-Parkside is 6-1 overall, 2-1 in the GLVC. The Rangers are ranked 21st in the NCAA Division II poll. A year ago, the two teams played to a scoreless tie at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

NKU is 1-8-2 against Wisconsin-Parkside during the past eight years. The Norse have not beaten the Rangers since the 1997 season.

Tony Capurro leads NKU in scoring with three goals and three assists.
