Danielle
Zimmerman is in her first season as an assistant coach for the women’s
basketball program at Northern Kentucky University. Zimmerman assists
in all areas of coaching, scouting and recruiting for the Norse.
Zimmerman arrives
at NKU after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Thomas
More. During her three years at Thomas More, the Saints compiled
a 58-22 (.725) record, including a 22-5 mark last season. Thomas
More also won the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament
title last season and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
"It's an
honor to have the opportunity to work under a great coach like Nancy
Winstel, and to be a part of a program with an outstanding tradition
like NKU," Zimmerman said. "I am looking forward to continuing
my development as a coach and recruiter at NKU, and I know the Great
Lakes Valley Conference is one of the best league’s in the
country.”
Zimmerman played
her prep basketball at Scott High School, where she is a member
of the 1,000-point club and still holds the school record for career
blocked shots with 290. For her efforts, she was inducted in the
Scott High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.
Zimmerman earned
a basketball scholarship to Murray State, where she played for one
season. She then attended NKU as a student and graduated in 2004.
Zimmerman resides in Edgewood, Ky.
