- Northern Kentucky University’s Jessie Slack has been named
Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s
basketball, the league office announced Monday.
Slack, a senior
guard from Mt. Perry, Ohio, averaged 24.5 points and shot 62.5 percent
from the field as NKU won twice to wrap up the GLVC East Division
title. Slack scored 20 of her career-high 32 points in the second
half to lead NKU to a 71-54 win against Bellarmine. She also added
four steals in that game and was 10-for-16 from the field.
Slack scored 17 points and made all seven of her free-throw attempts
in a 77-56 win over Lewis. Slack has now scored in double figures
in 32 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Slack is averaging
16.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this season. Slack leads GLVC
in free-throw percentage, having made 94 percent of her attempts.
This is the second time this season Slack has earned the GLVC weekly
NKU (25-2 overall)
travels west to Quincy, Ill., where the Norse will face Bellarmine
at 1 p.m. (Eastern) Friday in the first round. Bellarmine is 16-11
overall, and the Knights finished 8-10 in the GLVC. NKU knocked
off Bellarmine in both regular-season meetings.

The Lady Hawks knocked off NKU in The Bank of Kentucky Center earlier
