HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball head coach Nancy Winstel announced Thursday that Danielle Zimmerman has joined her staff as an assistant coach.

“Danielle comes from a very successful program at Thomas More, and we are very happy she is joining our staff,” Winstel said. “She has a great deal of knowledge about the high schools in Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati, and she has an outstanding work ethic that is going to fit in well with our program.”

Zimmerman arrives at NKU after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Thomas More. During her three years at Thomas More, the Saints compiled a 58-22 (.725) record, including a 22-5 mark last season. Thomas More also won the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament title last season and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

"It's an honor to have the opportunity to work under a great coach like Nancy Winstel, and to be a part of a program with an outstanding tradition like NKU," Zimmerman said. "I am looking forward to continuing my development as a coach and recruiter at NKU, and I know the Great Lakes Valley Conference is one of the best league’s in the country.”

Zimmerman played her prep basketball at Scott High School, where she is a member of the 1,000-point club and still holds the school record for career blocked shots with 290. For her efforts, she was inducted in the Scott High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.

Zimmerman earned a basketball scholarship to Murray State, where she played for one season. She then attended NKU as a student and graduated in 2004. Zimmerman resides in Edgewood, Ky.
