ATLANTA, Ga. - The Women's
Basketball Coaches Association has announced its 2006-07 Academic
Top 25 Team Honor Roll, and Northern Kentucky University ranked
15th nationally in NCAA Division II.
The WBCA awards
recognize teams throughout the nation that had the highest grade
point averages for the past academic year. They include programs
from NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III, NAIA and junior
college/community college.
"It always
brings the WBCA esteemed pleasure to recognize such prominent women's
basketball programs that have committed themselves on the hardwood
and in the classroom," said Beth Bass, chief executive officer
of the WBCA. "Each of these teams lead by example and have
set a benchmark of success academically among their peers and in
the sport."
NKU, which posted
a 21-8 record last season, compiled a 3.385 team GPA in 2006-07
to rank 15th nationally in NCAA Division II. The Norse also advanced
to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Lake Superior
State finished No. 1 in the NCAA Division II category with a team
GPA of 3.588.
