ATLANTA, Ga. - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association has announced its 2006-07 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, and Northern Kentucky University ranked 15th nationally in NCAA Division II.

The WBCA awards recognize teams throughout the nation that had the highest grade point averages for the past academic year. They include programs from NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III, NAIA and junior college/community college.

"It always brings the WBCA esteemed pleasure to recognize such prominent women's basketball programs that have committed themselves on the hardwood and in the classroom," said Beth Bass, chief executive officer of the WBCA. "Each of these teams lead by example and have set a benchmark of success academically among their peers and in the sport."

NKU, which posted a 21-8 record last season, compiled a 3.385 team GPA in 2006-07 to rank 15th nationally in NCAA Division II. The Norse also advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
