INDIANAPOLIS - Northern Kentucky University’s Angela Healy has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Saturday.

Healy, a senior and a graduate of Highlands High School, recorded three double-doubles last week as NKU won three games in four days. The 6-foot-1 center began the week with an 18-point, 15-rebound performance in a 93-80 win over Fayetteville State in the Travel America Classic.

Healy followed that by scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in a 100-50 win over St. Andrews, and she earned all-tournament honors in the Travel America Classic. Healy capped the week by collecting her third double-double in four days (21 points, 12 rebounds) as the Norse scored a big regional road win at Wayne State, 78-60. Healy also blocked nine shots and added 10 assists for the week.

For the week, Healy averaged 19 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.0 blocked shots per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the field. She was also 13-for-14 (.929) from the free-throw line.

Healy now has 914 career points at NKU and is closing in on becoming the 24th member of the Norse's 1,000-point club. She is averaging 17.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game this season. The Ft. Thomas, Ky., native currently ranks fifth in the GLVC in scoring and second in both rebounding and blocks.

NKU (8-1) has won six straight games and will return to action on Dec. 29 at Grand Valley State. The Norse are ranked 11th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.
