EVANSVILLE,
Ind. - Northern Kentucky University’s Nancy Winstel has been
selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year
in women’s basketball.
Winstel, in
her 23rd season as NKU’s head coach, has led the Norse to
a 26-4 record going into the NCAA Division II Tournament. NKU also
captured the GLVC Tournament championship on Sunday and is the No.
3 seed in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament at
Springfield, Mo.
This marks
the sixth time Winstel has earned GLVC coach of the Year honors.
NKU junior
forward Karmen Graham was named first team All-GLVC by the league
coaches. Graham averages 14.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
A native of
Kettering, Ohio, Graham is shooting 53.6 percent from the field
and has made 83.8 percent of her free throws.
NKU junior
guard Karyn Creager earned All-GLVC honorable mention accolades.
Creager, from Leipsic, Ohio, averages 9.4 ppg and is shooting 85.7
percent from the free-throw line. Creager also leads NKU in 3-pointers
made with 41.
