NKU WOMEN PLAY S. INDIANA THIS THURSDAY
Norse (12-8 overall, 9-4 GLVC) tied for second place in GLVC standings
 
 

Elizabeth Burrows averages 4.40 assists

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team will play host to Southern Indiana at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Regents Hall in a key Great Lakes Valley Conference game.

NKU enters that game with a 12-8 record after dropping a 65-50 decision at Quincy last Saturday. The Norse are 9-4 in the GLVC and tied for second place with both Wisconsin-Parkside and Bellarmine. NKU is one game behind first-place Quincy in the GLVC standings.

WIN STREAK ENDS: Quincy snapped NKU’s eight-game win streak on Saturday. The Lady Hawks have now beaten NKU four straight times during the past two seasons. A year ago, Quincy defeated NKU three times.

INSIDE FORCE: Connie Myers scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead NKU against Quincy. Myers has now scored in double figures in 13 consecutive games.

Myers leads NKU in scoring at 16.4 points per game, and she ranks No. 1 in the GLVC in rebounding at 8.6 boards per contest. She enters Thursday with 1,155 career points, which ranks 16th in Norse history.

CREAGER EXTENDS FT STREAK: NKU sophomore guard Karyn Creager leads the GLVC in free-throw percentage at .892. Creager has made 16 consecutive free throws entering Thursday’s game and averages 9.1 ppg.

NKU NO. 2 IN SCORING DEFENSE: NKU is No. 2 in the GLVC in scoring defense at 59.1 ppg. The Norse are also holding opponents to 40.4 percent shooting from the field, which ranks No. 3 in the GLVC.

BURROWS FOURTH IN ASSISTS: NKU senior point guard Elizabeth Burrows is No. 4 in the GLVC in assists at 4.40 apg. Burrows is also No. 3 in the GLVC in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.57.

ABOUT SOUTHERN INDIANA: The Screaming Eagles are 11-8 overall, 4-8 in the GLVC. Southern Indiana is in ninth place in the GLVC standings entering Thursday’s game.

Senior guard Jamie Truitt leads Southern Indiana in scoring at 13.9 ppg. Truitt has also made a team-leading 55 three-point shots this season. Junior forward Sabrina Brandon averages 12.3 ppg for Southern Indiana.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST SOUTHERN INDIANA: Earlier this season on Jan. 8 in Evansville, Ind., five players scored in double figures to lead NKU to an 81-55 win over Southern Indiana at the PAC Arena.

Karyn Creager led the Norse with 17 points, and she also added seven rebounds. Creager netted 11 points in the first half as NKU forged a 32-29 lead at the break. Sarah Woods scored nine of her career-high 16 points before halftime for the Norse.

STREAK IN REGENTS HALL AGAINST SOUTHERN INDIANA: NKU has not lost to Southern Indiana in Regents Hall since Jan. 22, 1998, when the Screaming Eagles posted a 73-64 win over the Norse. Since then, Southern Indiana is 0-5 in Regents Hall.
