HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team will hit the road this week for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference games, starting Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Wisconsin-Parkside.

NKU, 14-9 overall, 11-5 in the GLVC, will conclude the trip at 2 p.m. Saturday with a game at Lewis in Romeoville, Ill.

NKU is currently in a three-way tie for third place in the GLVC standings with Bellarmine and Lewis. The Norse trail second-place Wisconsin-Parkside (18-9 overall, 12-5 GLVC) by a half game.

AUTOMATIC AT THE LINE: Karyn Creager finished with 14 points against Indianapolis last Saturday and extended her school-record streak of consecutive made free throws to 24. Creager is atop the GLVC in free-throw shooting at .904 and averages 10.0 points per game.

MYERS DOUBLES UP AGAIN: NKU senior forward Connie Myers recorded her 10th double-double of the season last Saturday with 19 points and 10 rebounds against Indianapolis. Myers leads the GLVC in rebounding at 9.1 rpg, and she is tied for fifth in scoring at 16.3 ppg.

Myers enters Thursday night with 1,201 career points, which ranks 16th in Norse history. She has scored in double figures in 20 games this season.

TO THE POINT: NKU senior point guard Elizabeth Burrows scored a season-high 13 points against Indianapolis. Burrows also added three rebounds and four assists in that game. Burrows ranks No. 3 in the GLVC in assists per game at 4.43.

WOODS CONTINUES SOLID PLAY: NKU senior guard/forward Sarah Woods scored 10 points last Saturday, marking the third straight game she has reached double figures. Woods averages 5.3 ppg for the season.

HEALY HAS CAREER GAME: NKU freshman center Angela Healy grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds against Indianapolis. She also added 11 points for her first career double-double.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE: Earlier this season on Jan. 22, Karmen Graham hit a jumper in the closing seconds to give NKU the lead, and the Norse held on for a 53-50 win over Wisconsin-Parkside in Regents Hall.

Wisconsin-Parkside held a 50-49 lead in the final 15 seconds when Graham received the ball in the lane, rose above two defenders and released a 10-foot jumper. Graham’s shot found the bottom of the net to give NKU a 51-50 advantage with 10.9 seconds left.

After a Wisconsin-Parkside timeout, Carrie Weir drove into the lane and attempted a short jumper that was contested closely by NKU’s Karyn Creager. Weir’s shot was off target and rebounded by Elizabeth Burrows, who was fouled with 3.4 seconds on the clock.

Burrows made both free throws to give NKU a 53-50 lead. Wisconsin-Parkside had a final chance to send the game into overtime, but Weir’s three-point attempt hit the front of the rim at the buzzer. Graham scored 20 points to lead NKU and was 8-for-11 from the field. She also grabbed nine rebounds and blocked four shots.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST LEWIS: Earlier this season on Dec. 9, Karmen Graham scored 10 of her game-high 17 points in the second half to lead NKU to a 54-47 win over Lewis in Regents Hall. She also provided the biggest play of the night with less than three minutes remaining and the game tied at 43-43.

After taking a feed from Nikki Perkins inside, Graham powered her way for a basket while being fouled to give NKU a 45-43 advantage with 2:41 left in the game. The sophomore post player finished off the conventional three-point play by sinking the free throw to extend the Norse’s lead to 46-43.

Perkins hit a short jumper with 1:10 remaining to give NKU a 48-43 lead. Tenesha McDaniel responded with a basket to bring Lewis within 48-45, but Connie Myers hit two free throws with 34 seconds left to push the Norse advantage to 50-45.

Graham added two free throws with 21 seconds remaining to give NKU a 52-45 lead, and Perkins sealed the win with a layup. For the game, Graham converted 11 of her 12 attempts from the line. She also grabbed seven rebounds against the physical Lewis frontcourt.
