INDIANAPOLIS -- Amanda Davidson scored four points in the final 10 seconds of the game as Indianapolis rallied for a 61-58 win over Northern Kentucky University on Thursday in Nicoson Hall.

With NKU holding a 58-57 lead, Davidson drove the right baseline and powered in a layup with 10.1 seconds remaining to give Indianapolis a 59-58 advantage. After Connie Myers was called for traveling with 4.6 seconds left, Davidson converted two free throws to extend the Indianapolis lead to 61-58.

“Our players were trying to be aggressive and trying to make something happen,” said NKU head coach Nancy Winstel. “We'd make a great stop at the other end, and we'd come down the floor, we wouldn't get into our offense and we would turn the ball over. We gave ourselves as good of a chance as we could have late in the game.”

NKU's Karmen Graham was fouled attempting a layup with 1.1 seconds remaining, but she missed both free throws and Indianapolis held on for the victory.

“I think we're getting better,” said Winstel. “We shot the ball a little better, but we still need to start making shots. I felt like we could have won it if we would have done a couple little things a little differently.”

NKU led by as many as 11 points in the first half (15-4), but Indianapolis pulled to within two points (27-25) with a layup by Deanna Thomson at the buzzer.

With the score tied at 39-39, Indianapolis went on a 17-8 run to take the nine point lead with 6:21 remaining. NKU used an 11-1 run to take a 58-57 lead with 1:52 remaining when Graham hit two free throws.

Myers scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead NKU, which dropped to 0-5 overall, 0-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Nikki Perkins came off the bench to score 10 points for the Norse.

Indianapolis was led by Erin Moran, who scored 10 of her 17 points in the second half for the Greyhounds. Amanda Norris added 14 points and grabbed six rebounds for Indianapolis. The Greyhounds improved to 5-1, 2-1 in the GLVC.

The Greyhounds held NKU without a field goal in the final 2:35 of the game. Indianapolis also shot 92.3 percent from the free-throw line to pull out the win.

The Norse will conclude the two-game GLVC road trip with a 2 p.m. contest at Saint Joseph's on Saturday.
