HILTON HEAD,
S.C. – Another day in paradise for the Northern
Kentucky University women’s tennis team resulted in yet another
dominating win for the Norse.
NKU (6-4) easily defeated Baldwin-Wallace
College (0-3) by an 8-1 final score.
The Norse nearly swept through
the singles portion of the competition against the Yellow Jackets
dropping only one set en route to
six individual victories.
After losing
the first set to Emily Pelosi in the fourth singles flight, Jenny
Hand stormed back
to sweep the second set and
force a super tiebreaker third set, which she easily handled
10-4.
Kristen
Sunday (6-1, 6-2), Stephanie Isaacs (6-0, 6-1, Michelle Schirmann
(6-0, 6-1), Jillian Sturgeon (6-2, 6-4), and Maggie
Koetter (6-0, 6-2) each had little trouble defeating
their opponents.
Caitlyn Pecinovsky and Katy Baldwin outdueled
Isaacs and Sturgeon 8-6 in the first doubles flight for the only
point
of the day
for the Yellow Jackets.
Schirmann and Sunday dismantled
Jenny Greene and Alyssa Trampert 8-1 in the second doubles flight
while Hand
and Ivana Misic
were challenged before pulling away for an 8-4 victory
over Andrea
Essig and Emily Pelosi.
The Norse will be back in action
Tuesday, March 10 when wake up for an early match against the
University of
Charleston (W.Va.). First serve is set for 8 a.m. |
