CINCINNATI - The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team ran into a buzzsaw Friday afternoon when the Norse faced Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Drury.

The No. 19 ranked Panthers defeated the Norse, 6-3, to end NKU's winning streak at eight matches, but it was a hard-fought victory by a talented Drury team.

Michelle Schirmann and Maggie Koetter each claimed singles victories, while Koetter and Patricia Brink combined for a win in the No. 3 doubles flight.

Kristen Sunday was up 3-0 in the third set before falling, 6-3, to Khrystsina Tryboi in the No. 3 singles flight. Emily Okerson was serving for the match in the second set against Eva Hankova before falling, 7-4, in a second-set tiebreak and 6-3 in the third set.

Northern Kentucky (8-2, 3-1 GLVC) returns to action at home tomorrow at noon against Rockhurst.
