DAYTON, Ohio – The
Northern Kentucky University men’s tennis squad saw its
first flight victory as the team fell to Division I foe Dayton,
6-1, on Tuesday.
Fritz Dlabik
defeated David Peyton, 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 3 singles flight
to claim his first individual victory
of 2008 and run his
record to 1-1 in singles play. NKU’s Michael Volkov was
another bright spot for the Norse, taking Dayton’s Antonio
Rodriguez to a third set before falling, 10-6, in the No. 4 singles.
Volkov
and Jon Raley edged close to victory in doubles play,
taking Matt Sherman and Bryce Warnock to an 8-6 set.
The Norse
(0-2) prepare for their annual trip to Hilton Head, S.C.,
for their Spring Break matches. The men will open
play
March 9 against Denison.
