MISSION, Kan. - The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team placed three players on the NSCAA/adidas All-America first team.

Midfielder Tony Capurro earned his second All-American award, while defender Andy Bacon and forward Braden Bishop each made their first appearances on the team.

Capurro captained the Norse to an all-time best 22 wins thanks to his stellar ball handling skills that helped the NKU defense allow a mere 6.9 shots per game. Offensively, the Moeller High School product helped set up a number of scoring plays, earning him five assists along with his four goals on the season. Capurro earned second-team All-American honors in 2006.

Bacon served as the anchor of the Norse defense, stymieing practically every opponent scoring opportunity sent his way. With his help, the NKU defense gave up just 12 goals, equaling a school record. Bacon was selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a first-team All-American selection by Daktronics this season.

Bishop is quickly running out of room in his trophy case, as he has already been named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year and the Daktronics Great Lakes Regional Player of the Year. His 16-goal outburst this season puts him on pace to become one of NKU's all-time greatest scorers. His excellent speed and stellar shooting ability gave the Norse an edge against every opponent they faced.

NKU was the only team to place three players on the first team, and one of just four teams to earn three selections overall.
