HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer head coach John Basalyga has hired Sam Miller as an assistant coach.

Miller recently played as a member of the Cincinnati Kings of the United Soccer League second division. Miller also played at the University of Cincinnati, where he appeared in all 77 matches (68 starts) during his career. The Bearcats captured the Conference USA title in 2003 and the Big East crown in 2006, making appearances in the NCAA Tournament in each of those seasons. Miller was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team in 2003.

Miller played his high school soccer at Anderson, and he was captain of the team in 2001 and '02. He was named Fort Ancient Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2002, and was an All-FAVC selection from 2000-02.

NKU opens its season Aug. 24 against West Virginia Wesleyan in the John Toebben Classic presented by National City. The John Toebben Classic soccer clinic will be held Aug. 25 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.
