QUINCY, Ill.
- Braden Bishop scored on a breakaway goal with nine seconds remaining
in regulation Friday as the Northern Kentucky University men’s
soccer team posted a 2-1 win over Quincy.
Bishop's winning
score was assisted by Tony Ray. NKU improved to 4-1 overall, 2-1
in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse also avenged last
season's 3-0 setback to the Hawks.
Quincy dropped
to 0-5 overall, 0-3 in the GLVC. The Hawks have scored just two
goals this season in five games.
D.J. Todd gave
NKU a 1-0 lead in the first half with a goal that was assisted by
Bishop and Ray. It remained that way until the 70th minute, when
Quincy knotted the score at 1-all on Jayme Groark's penalty kick.
NKU will conclude
the two-game road trip Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. contest at GLVC powerhouse
Southern Illinois at Edwardsville. The 11th-ranked Cougars are the
two-time defending regional champion.
