WILDER, Ky.
- Andy Held scored a pair of goals as Missouri-Rolla rallied for
a 2-1 win over Northern Kentucky University on Friday at the Town
& Country Sports Complex.
The Miners improved
to 4-3 overall, 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Braden
Bishop scored his fifth goal of the season for NKU, which dropped
to 4-2-1 overall, 2-2-1 GLVC.
The Norse took
a 1-0 lead at the 18:28 mark when Bishop knocked in a rebound shot
past Mike McNamee. Later in the first half, Derek Pelate's free
kick was stopped by NKU goalie Andy Ortman, but the ball slipped
through the junior keeper's hands.
Held sent the
loose ball into the back of the net to tie the score at 1-all at
the 21:48 mark. The game remained tied at halftime, despite the
fact NKU outshot Missouri-Rolla 8-4.
Held finished
off a crossing pass at the 61:06 mark to give Missouri-Rolla a 2-1
lead. NKU had several scoring opportunities late in the game, but
the Norse were unable to convert.
NKU finished
with a 17-8 edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Norse will
play host to Missouri-St. Louis at noon Sunday.
