WILDER, Ky.
- Three days after vaulting into the Division II national rankings,
the No. 16 Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team battled
Rockhurst to a scoreless tie Friday at the Town & Country Sports
Complex.
The Norse took
their fair share of shots, sending 13 attempts in the direction
of Rockhurst goalkeeper Chad Becker and putting five of those on
goal. Meanwhile, the defense was solid, allowing just eight shots
with four going on goal, all saved by NKU's Andy Ortman.
The Norse outshot
the Hawks 8-2 in the second half, but were unable to solve Becker.
It was a physical battle, as well. NKU was whistled for 22 fouls,
including five in the first overtime period and the game's only
booking.
Rockhurst had
17 fouls to its credit. The draw sets NKU's record to 9-2-2, 6-2-2
in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. Rockhurst moves to 7-5-2,
6-3-1 in conference.
The Norse return
to GLVC play Sunday afternoon as they host Drury at noon in Wilder.
