WILDER, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team closed out the regular season Wednesday night with a convincing 2-1 victory over Findlay in non-conference play.

The scoring started early for NKU when Seth Eckerlin tallied his second of the year off a perfectly placed corner kick from Chris Thompson in the second minute. Eckerlin leaped over the crowd to beat the defender and rocketed the header into the twine.

Braden Bishop added to the lead in the 57th minute when he got a hold of a loose ball in the penalty area and knocked home his eighth of the year to lead the Norse. The lead would hold, despite a Ronnie Platten goal in the 73rd on a loose ball in the 18-yard box.

The Norse (13-2-2) were strong on both sides of the ball, outshooting the Oilers 20-7 in the contest. Andy Ortman recorded the win in goal for NKU and had one save. Conrad Davenport took the loss for Findlay while making seven saves.

The Norse return to action Sunday afternoon when they host the University of Indianapolis in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at the Town & Country Sports Complex.
