EVANSVILLE,
Ind. - Chris Thompson snapped a scoreless tie in the 63rd minute
with his sixth goal of the season as Northern Kentucky University
edged Southern Indiana, 1-0, Friday night.
NKU and Southern
Indiana each squandered scoring opportunities earlier in the game

Ortman made the goal stand by recording his eighth shutout of the
season with five saves.
NKU, ranked
No. 16 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, improved to 11-2-2
overall, 8-2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse also
wrapped up a first-round home game in the GLVC Tournament, which
begins Oct. 22 at campus sites.
NKU will play
at Kentucky Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Norse can clinch the
No. 2 seed in the GLVC Tournament with a victory against Kentucky
Wesleyan.
