HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer players Braden Bishop and Andy Ortman have been named to the Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region first team, while Norse women’s soccer standout Jayme Light has been named to the second team.

Bishop, who was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the Year, led NKU to a 16-3-3 record and its first-ever regional championship. The Centerville, Ohio, native scored a team-leading 12 goals and had three assists. He also tallied five game-winning goals in 2006.

Ortman, a junior goalie and a graduate of Roger Bacon High School, posted 12 shutouts this season and finished with a 0.54 goals against average. Ortman, a transfer from Cincinnati State, also had 60 saves in 2006.

Light, a junior forward and a graduate of Colerain High School, scored 13 goals and added six assists this season as NKU posted a 13-4-1 record. Light finished No. 2 in the GLVC in both goals per game (0.72) and points per game (1.78).

Light also earned first team All-GLVC honors in 2006.
