WILDER, Ky. - Alen Osmanovich
scored two goals and added an assist Sunday as the Wisconsin-Parkside
men’s soccer team defeated Northern Kentucky University, 4-0,
at the Town & Country Sports Complex.
Victor Perez notched
the shutout and recorded six saves for Wisconsin-Parkside, which
improved to 7-1-1 overall, 3-1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The Rangers entered the game ranked 21st nationally in the NCAA
Division II poll.
Osmanovich gave Wisconsin-Parkside
a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the contest when he hooked a corner
kick past NKU goalie Jeremy Curington. Osmanovich later assisted
a goal by Sher Yang at the 21:41 mark off another corner kick as
the Rangers took a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Osmanovich added
his second goal at the 52:41 mark to give Wisconsin-Parkside a 3-0
lead, and Renaldo Vega capped the scoring by finishing off a cross
from 12 yards late in the game.
NKU, which dropped to 6-3 overall, 4-2 in the GLVC, has not beaten
Wisconsin-Parkside since 1997. The Norse are now 1-9-2 against the
Rangers during the past
nine seasons.
Wisconsin-Parkside owned
a 13-8 edge in shot attempts and an 11-4 advantage in corner kicks.
NKU will play host to
Truman State in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m. Friday. The Norse
will then resume GLVC play next Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with a home
game against Bellarmine.
