Wisconsin-Parkside posts 4-0 win over NKU on Sunday

NKU’s Chris Thompson and Mike Ruffolo

WILDER, Ky. - Alen Osmanovich scored two goals and added an assist Sunday as the Wisconsin-Parkside men’s soccer team defeated Northern Kentucky University, 4-0, at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Victor Perez notched the shutout and recorded six saves for Wisconsin-Parkside, which improved to 7-1-1 overall, 3-1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Rangers entered the game ranked 21st nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.

Osmanovich gave Wisconsin-Parkside a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the contest when he hooked a corner kick past NKU goalie Jeremy Curington. Osmanovich later assisted a goal by Sher Yang at the 21:41 mark off another corner kick as the Rangers took a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.

Osmanovich added his second goal at the 52:41 mark to give Wisconsin-Parkside a 3-0 lead, and Renaldo Vega capped the scoring by finishing off a cross from 12 yards late in the game.

NKU, which dropped to 6-3 overall, 4-2 in the GLVC, has not beaten Wisconsin-Parkside since 1997. The Norse are now 1-9-2 against the Rangers during the past nine seasons.

Wisconsin-Parkside owned a 13-8 edge in shot attempts and an 11-4 advantage in corner kicks.

NKU will play host to Truman State in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m. Friday. The Norse will then resume GLVC play next Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with a home game against Bellarmine.
