SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - David Lies and Jim Delaney each scored second-half goals Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team posted a 2-0 victory over Drury.

Lies, a senior and a graduate of Colerain High School, tallied the first goal just four minutes into the second half with a header. NKU sealed the victory in the 78th minute when Delaney punched in a goal off an assist from Tony Capurro.

NKU improved to 5-1 overall, 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse, ranked 12th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, also extended their winning streak to five games.

Jeremy Curington picked up the shutout for NKU and recorded six saves. It was Curington’s second shutout of the season.

The Norse have not allowed a goal in their last four games and have outscored the opposition 15-4 this season.

Drury, in its first season as a member of the GLVC, dropped to 3-4 overall, 0-3 in the GLVC. The Panthers have lost four straight games after starting the season 3-0.

NKU will conclude its two-game road trip at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Kansas City with a GLVC contest at Rockhurst.
