HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.
- Northern Kentucky University’s Tony Capurro has been named
Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in men’s
soccer.
Capurro, a sophomore
midfielder and a graduate of Moeller High School in Cincinnati,
scored two goals and added an assist as the Norse swept GLVC opponents
Kentucky Wesleyan and Southern Indiana. Capurro started the weekend
with a goal and an assist in NKU’s 3-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan
on Friday.
He added a goal in the second half of NKU’s 2-0 victory against
Southern Indiana on Sunday as the Norse (4-1 overall) extended their
win streak to four and jumped into first place in the GLVC with
a 2-0 mark.
Capurro leads NKU in
goals scored with three and his eight total points also rank first
on the team. The Norse will travel west this weekend for GLVC road
contests at Drury (Friday at 8:30 p.m.) and Rockhurst (Sunday at
3:30 p.m.).
